22 Feb Fairway Sponsors the Make-A-Wish® Ball
Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation was a sponsor at the 2017 Make-A-Wish® Gala in Uptown Charlotte. The event was held at the Westin Charlotte with all proceeds benefitting the Make-A-Wish® Foundation of America. Guests were encouraged to wear blue accents to represent the official color of the Make-A-Wish® Foundation. The evening was filled with fun, dancing, giving, and inspiring stories shared by Wish Kids from around the area.
Founded in 1980, the Make-A-Wish® Foundation is a non-profit organization that grants wishes to make life better for kids with life-threatening medical conditions. The Make-A-Wish® chapter of central and western North Carolina covers 51 counties from Burlington County west. Since its founding in 1985, this chapter has granted over 4,000 wishes and has never turned away an eligible wish.
Mortgage Planner, Melissa Rose, was a volunteer at this event and was moved by the support that this gala was able to provide to Make-A-Wish®. She commented:
“Besides meeting the founder and cause behind Make-A-Wish® and knowing that such a wonderful organization truly sprung from a mother’s simple wish to make lasting memories with the precious time she had left with her child, I was SO blown away by just how LOCAL money raised is. It is TRULY a grass-roots organization that helps people right in our community. No need to guess who you are helping or where your money is going. It has already been five days since the event and I am still talking about it.”
Carolina Meulman was also a volunteer at the event and couldn’t have been more thrilled to be a part of it. She shared:
“I’ve been wanting to find an organization to volunteer for and couldn’t be happier to have been able to volunteer with Make-A-Wish®! Learning how local they are and seeing how much the community is doing to put a smile on a child’s face and give them hope was truly inspiring. The work they do is amazing! There is no better feeling in the world than knwing you contributed a little bit in making a kid’s dream come true. I am committed to this organization and hope to continue making a part of helping kids’ dreams come true.”
Regional Marketing Director, Kelly Yale, was so touched by the event and the amazing children who were on the stage. She said:
“What brave, wonderful children were on hand to share their stories with us. My favorite part of the night was a little girl named Violet who just owned the stage and had us all laughing. While I hate that any child gets sick, the fact that Make-A-Wish® can help to make their days happier is all the reason we need to celebrate and raise money for this incredible cause.”
Giving back to the community is something that is close to the heart of Fairway. We enjoyed participating in this fantastic event and being able to make a difference for children in need. For more information about the Make-A-Wish® Foundation, click here.
