21 Oct A Fun Day at the 2016 5K For Kids Cancer in Charlotte!
Fairway Independent Mortgage of the Carolinas participated in the 9th annual 2016 5K For Kids Cancer in south Charlotte to benefit the Isabella Santos Foundation. It was a fun-filled morning decked out in purple and unicorn gear to help fight children’s cancer and an excellent opportunity for a fun activity with co-workers!
Mortgage closer Katy Mae Hudson had a wonderful time participating and loved having the opportunity to support such a fantastic cause! She said,
“It was incredible to see all the support for the Isabella Santos Race for Kids Cancer. Walking in my husband and I were flooded with purple shirts, vendors, and smiling faces. It was heart-warming to see so many families come together for such and important cause. To know that a day of fun in remembrance of one child can help save hundreds of children in the future, gosh that’s powerful! What better way is there to pay it forward and spread love and joy?”
The Isabella Santos Foundation was founded in memory of Isabella Santos who, at age 2, was diagnosed with a rare form of pediatric cancer called Neuroblastoma This terrible disease has a survival rate of just 40%. For five years adorable Isabella fought bravely, but on June 28th 2012, at just 7 years old, she surrendered. Isabella’s parents did everything right, and yet, they ran out of options to save their little girl because pediatric cancer research is tragically unfunded. Isabella’s parents established The Isabella Santos Foundation to honor their daughter and to carry on her mission of finding a cure for Neuroblastoma.
Kelly loves supporting her friend, Erin Santos and their family in a way that really brings the community together. She said,
“No one should ever lose a child and if we can help in any small way to raise money so that parents never have to go through what Erin and Stuart did in losing Isabella, then we are going to do it. Very grateful that our Fairway family comes together for amazing causes like this one!”
Each year, the foundation holds the 5K and 10K For Kids Cancer, as well as many other events. For more information on becoming involved, click here.
